Ramanuja stayed in Srirangam for a long time and shed his mortal coil here and attained immortal bliss. His physical remains was buried in the Padmasana position. After some time, Ramanuja’s body rose from the ground. It is considered to be Thaanaana Thirumeni – the structure in which the divine spirit of Ramanuja is present still.

This form of Ramanuja is found in a separate shrine in Srirangam. Thirumanjanam – holy bathing – is not conducted for this Moorthy. Saffron and menthol paste is applied on Chithirai Thiruvaadhirai day.

The Karthigai Ekadhashi during the waxing moon period is called Kaisika Ekadhashi. During the night on this day, 365 blankets are made to cover Lord Nam Perumal one after the other. It is done as an atonement for the possibility of any defect in the clothing dedicated to the Lord during daily Pooja all through the year. As the Karthigai and Maargazhi months are the months of winter season, the Lord is lovingly provided with blankets so he could fight the cold.
