According to reports, Rihanna ‘turned down’ the Super Bowl halftime show ‘in support of Colin Kaepernick.’ The NFL then approached Maroon 5 after the Bajan pop star turned down the offer to headline the Super Bowl LII halftime show as she disagrees with the NFL’s stance on the kneeling protests. The Umbrella singer was reportedly invited to perform on February 19 next year.

A source told US Weekly, “The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta. They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.” The offer was then extended to Maroon 5, who are confirmed headliners.
