First reactions for Deadpool 2, the superhero sequel starring Ryan Reynolds as the foul-mouthed, self-referential fan favourite character, are in and they’re unanimously positive. While most critics can’t seem to decide if the film is better than the first, they have come to an agreement in declaring the post credits scene as the best ever.

Critics praised the film’s humour and how director David Leitch handled the introductions of several new characters. They especially singled out Cable, played by Thanos star Josh Brolin, and Peter, Rob Delaney’s mild mannered dad who finds himself enrolled in the X-Force. The film’s violence was also highlighted, with one critic saying that it was the most violent mainstream film released since Kill Bill Vol 1.

But more than anything else, several critics have suggested that the film’s post credits scene might be one of the best ever. It was recently rumoured that the film will have a cameo by Brad Pitt, who appears briefly as the Vanisher. Pitt was previously rumoured to be up for the Cable role, before Brolin was cast.

Here are some reactions:

The first Deadpool movie became a runaway success, grossing close to $800 million worldwide to make it the biggest R-rated movie of all time. A sequel was announced almost immediately, but creative differences led to director Tim Miller departing the project. Leitch, who had previously co-directed John Wick and helmed the Charlize Theron spy movie, Atomic Blonde, was brought on board.

Reynolds has been upping its marketing in recent weeks, with an original theme song by Celine Dion being unveiled, as well as a special promotional video featuring David Beckham.

Deadpool 2 is scheduled for a May 18 release, and the Hindi version will feature Ranveer Singh as Wade Wilson and YouTube star Bhuvan Bam as his cabbie, Dopinder.
