Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s son and AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s brother-in-law, Nandamuri Harikrishna succumbed to injuries following an SUV crash at Anneparthy village which is about 10 km away from Nalgonda town during the early hours on Wednesday.
Harikrishna (61) was rushed to Kamineni Hospital in Narkatpally but died while undergoing treatment.
The SUV (AP 28 BW 2323) which the former Rajya Sabha member was driving, went out of control and rammed into the median. It was flung into the air and landed on an oncoming car and then fell into the bushes on the roadside.
Harikrishna, who was behind the wheels, was thrown out of the car from the windshield as he failed to fasten his seatbelt, while the other two escaped with minor injuries.
He was on his way to Kavali in Andhra Pradesh to attend a marriage.
His companion, Shivaji suffered a leg fracture and Venkat Rao received a few bruises.
Harikrishna and his friends left for Kavali at around 4.30am from Harikrishna’s house in Mehdipatnam, and the accident took place at around 6.30 am on the road opposite the 12th Battalion of the Telangana State Reserve Police office at Anneparthy.
The armed guards and other passersby immediately rushed to the spot and shifted Harikrishna to Kamineni Hospital in Narketpally in the Battalion’s ambulance within 10 minutes, but
he succumbed in the hospital.In another SUV, photographers from Hyderabad, were returning to the city from Kavuru in Guntur. When Harikrishna’s vehicle hit that SUV, it also went off the road and got stuck in the
bushes.
One suffered minor injuries and rest escaped unhurt.Venkat Rao, who was accompanying Harikrishna said, “The car would have been travelling at over 100 km speed when the accident happened.”
